SCOOBY DOO

Scooby Doo is an easily frightened dog who, despite his many fears, is part of a group of teenagers whose job is solving crimes and mysteries which often include ghosts and monsters. Scooby’s best friend is Shaggy, who is equally cowardly as his dog companion, and their favorite hobby is eating. It’s one of the best Hanna-Barbera Saturday morning cartoon series ever made.

With protests about the Saturday cartoon as being too violent and the push to introduce programs that were more friendly and suitable for children in the 60’s, Scooby Doo was the perfect saviour of that time as its introduction was what the Saturday TV needed at that time.

With original characters of the cartoon series being Shaggy, Fred, Velma, Daphne, and of course Scooby Doo, the series kicked off in 1969. The composition of these characters gave rise to the Mystery Incorporated gang with Scooby’s nephew and cousin in Scrappy-Doo and Scooby-Dum respectively joining the series as years passed.

Scooby Doo is a big talking dog. Brown in color with some few black spots, it always has the blue collar that has its initials on it. With a pretty bad vocabulary and impediments to its speech, Scooby’s words were not particularly very audible especially as it starts almost all its words with the letter “R”. He therefore preferred to  use charades in many instances in order for people to understand its utterances.

You might also want to know that this big dog character has a soft spot for “scooby snacks”, I.e., dog crackers and it would ultimately put it in a good mood once it has a taste of the crackers.

Shaggy, who doubles as its owner is its best friend and they both possess some common attributes like being extremely cowardly in scary situations involving ghosts and similar hunger levels and cravings for food.

The cartoon series are based on supernatural events which is the source of Scooby Doo’s crew name “Mystery Incorporated” as the dog and its friends claim to be able to solve mystery cases of this nature, even though, these cases turn out to be mere imposters and not really supernatural beings.

Scooby Doo not only made its name as being a hilarious cartoon character, its fame as this, transcended to the gaming world as a number of online games were developed based on its characters. And because they were friendly to all age groups, these games further increased the popularity of the already well-known big brown dog everyone could play it.

The games are as funny as the cartoon series and even after decades since it made its first appearance on TV screens in the United States of America, it continues to generate interest from every cartoon lover and lover of humor across the globe
