THE ROAD RUNNER

Road runner is the ostrich-like bird part of the Warner Brothers family. He is famous for being super fast and constantly running up and down the deserted roads in the Arizona desert. The road runner does not speak, rather only gives out his trademark “Beep-beep” sound. Always trying to catch him is Wile E. Coyote, who uses various traps and different ingenious weapons but never manages to do so.

The Road Runner – A Hilarious Series of Non-Stop Chase

Looney tunes are a well-known name, which has given us several iconic cartoon characters. The Road Runner is one of them. This unique character was imagined and shaped by innovative animation maker Chuck Jones in 1948. A writer named Michael Maltese was also involved in developing the adventures in this series by Warner Bros. The Road Runner is about two characters. One is the roadrunner – a slender, blue, and purple ground bird, which runs at a high speed. Another one is Wile E. Coyote aka The Coyote – a wolf-like animal with long, scrawny frame.
Interestingly, the series was developed following some rules laid out by the creator Chuck Jones. The action happens mostly on a highway in the Southwest American desert. Exceptionally, cliff edges, mountaintops, railways etc. are also used for the adventure. The unique part of this cartoon series is that there are no dialogues except the popular “beep beep” by the roadrunner at times. The roadrunner never harms the coyote. Instead, the coyote fails to catch the bird due to his incompetence and the failure of the various types of tools, devices, and weapons, which are a product of the fictitious company, Acme Corporation.
The roadrunner cartoons has a lot of action, which keeps the audience of all ages tickled. The plots are basically about the coyote chasing the roadrunner bird, who runs at an amazing speed. The coyote is always shown planning to catch him with the help of the Acme brand materials. But eventually, he fails to capture the bird, as most of the time his plans boomerang and he is left with a feeling of embarrassment. The bird responds with “Beep! Beep!” and shoots off at a great speed.
These short films are generally 6 to 7 minutes long. Loaded with hilarious gimmicks done by the comedic pair of coyote and roadrunner, the roadrunner cartoons has been a favored source of entertainment for decades now. The cat and mouse-like perpetual chase with comical situations is fun to watch. While running, the fast moving legs of the bird form a wheel-like blur. The unlucky coyote’s only option is to set up various types of traps to catch the bird, as he simply cannot run fast enough. The audience feels sympathetic towards the coyote because he ends up getting hurt and the bird ridicules him and runs off again. Furthermore, it is hysterical to see how all the Acme items used to capture the bird give contrary results to the coyote.
